East Baton Rouge alarm permit: $25 once, three free false alarms
If you put an alarm in a house inside the City of Baton Rouge or unincorporated East Baton Rouge Parish, Title 9, Chapter 422 says you register it. The fee is $25, one time. You file within 30 days of install or of taking control of a system that is already in the house. The permit is not transferable. If you move from Southdowns to Shenandoah, you register again.

Who collects the $25
The City-Parish publishes the ordinance and the application. BRPD Alarm Enforcement is at 9000 Airline Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70815, phone 225-389-3805. Applications and the $25 go to the City of Baton Rouge. East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office also publishes alarm-enforcement language for parish addresses. In 2024 BRPD sent letters that looked like a renewal scam because a third-party contractor in Irving, Texas was handling collections. The department later clarified: the $25 is still one-time. If you already paid, you do not pay again. Permits renew automatically. If a letter asks for a second $25 on the same address, call Alarm Enforcement before you write a check.
False alarms: June 1 through May 31
Title 9, Chapter 423 gives you three false alarms per fiscal year without a fine. The year runs June 1 to May 31, not January to December. The fourth false alarm is $25. Then $50, $75, $100, $125, $150, $175, and $200 for each one after that. Professional monitoring with a call-before-dispatch process is how you stay inside the three. A DIY siren that screams at the humidity does not get a phone call first.
Operating without a permit can be fined $100 to $250 per calendar day. File the $25. It is cheaper than a week of daily fines.
Baker and Zachary are not on this form
The City-Parish FAQ is explicit: everyone in the city of Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge Parish except residents of Baker and Zachary must obtain the $25 permit. Baker and Zachary are independent cities with independent police. Central is also its own city. We will not hand you a BRPD PDF for a 70791 or 70714 address. Ask on the call. The monitoring is the same. The paperwork is not.
Livingston, Ascension, and the west bank
Denham Springs and Walker are Livingston Parish. Prairieville, Gonzales, Dutchtown, and St. Amant are Ascension. Port Allen, Brusly, and Addis are West Baton Rouge. Plaquemine and St. Gabriel are Iberville. None of those are the East Baton Rouge $25 form. Confirm the office from the ZIP. Same ADT watch. Different city hall.
