Leftover keypad in a Baton Rouge house: photograph it before you pull it
You bought the house. There is a keypad by the door. The last owner said “the alarm still works.” It might. It might be a dead builder panel that died with the Wi-Fi. Photograph it before you pry it off the drywall. That photo is the fastest way to find out whether we can turn ADT back on or whether SafeStreets needs to start fresh.
Home Security Systems Baton Rouge is the local order line. SafeStreets installs. ADT monitors 24/7. Baton Rouge homeowners can trust a SafeStreets security system monitored by ADT — including when the house already has a box on the wall.
What a leftover keypad usually is
In Broadmoor, Sherwood Forest, Goodwood, and older Southdowns ranches, the panel is often a previous professionally monitored system. Those can frequently be reactivated onto ADT. Reactivation is usually faster and cheaper than a full replace. You still need a new monitoring agreement. You still file the $25 East Baton Rouge permit in your name, because the last owner’s permit does not transfer.
In Zachary, Central, Prairieville, and Addis new plats, the panel is often a builder leftover. Those kits are not ADT monitoring. They stop when the Wi-Fi stops. They do not call a monitoring center at 2 a.m. We replace them. $99 install on many new-customer plans.
College Town and Mid City rentals collect keypads the way they collect porch furniture. If you own the house, you order. If you rent, this promotion is not for you. Landlords: send the photo with the ZIP.
What to photograph
The front of the keypad, any model number, the wiring closet or hall box if you can see it, and the sticker on the door that names a monitoring company. Do not unscrew anything if you are not sure. A picture from the hallway is enough for the quote call.
What happens after you call
A specialist looks at the photo, names a plan (Secure through Complete), and tells you whether this is a reactivation or a new install. Same-day or next-day is common in the LA – Baton Rouge territory. You still hear the monthly number, the $99 install if it applies, the agreement length, and the permit office for your ZIP before anyone schedules a truck.
Call (225) 250-0100 with the photo. Do not throw the keypad in a contractor bag until we have seen it.
