East Baton Rouge Parish School System is the large district (tens of thousands of students, campuses from Broadmoor to Woodlawn). Zachary Community School District, Central Community School District, and City of Baker School District are independent city systems inside the same parish. • Zachary Community — zacharyschools.org. Small-town feel, newer construction, Copper Mill and Milldale streets. High marks on the calls we take.
• Central Community — centralschools.net. Central Elementary through Central High. Often the closest match for families used to a suburban public system.
• City of Baker — baker schools on Plank Road. Own city, own district, own alarm rules.
• EBRPSS — ebrschools.org. Woodlawn, Tara, Shenandoah Elementary, Broadmoor, magnets, and charters including BASIS Materra in 70817.

Ascension and Livingston are the next parish over
